HOW TO BOOK A TENNIS COURT IN JAPAN
Public courts
Courts run by cities and wards are affordable. Most require you to register with the local reservation system first, and some are only open to people who live or work in the area.
Private courts
Tennis clubs, schools, and commercial facilities can often be booked online or by phone. They cost more than public courts but are usually easier to book.
Reservation systems
Each city or facility has its own booking website, and many are available only in Japanese. Popular time slots are often decided by lottery a month in advance. Some courts can be booked directly on TennisBear.
What visitors should know
Bring your own racket and balls, check the shoe rules for the court surface (such as artificial grass or clay), and cancel early if your plans change. Late cancellations may be charged.
